This beautiful land-locked country, Uganda enjoys many superb beaches, 80% of which are located in the Entebbe area. The zoo offers a variety of things to film onsite among the wildlife such as chimpanzees, lions, leopards, rhinos, hyena, giraffe and the rare and elusive shoebill stork.
Entebbe Botanical Garden.
The splendid Entebbe Botanical Gardens lies at the shores of the world’s fresh water lakes found in Uganda. The Botanical Garden was laid out in 1898, these expansive gardens are perfect for a leisurely stroll and filming. The gardens have a diversity of species of plants of the tropical, subtropical, and temperate zones, besides several shrubs and other plants regenerated naturally over the years. It is also a home to different species of monkeys, birds, reptiles. It is safe and has attracted different visitors for birding, picnics, and other activities. Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
Entebbe has the easiest access to Ngamba Island, We have hosted some of the filming companies who have made film productions from the chimpanzee sanctuary, Ngamba Island is currently home to 49 orphaned and confiscated chimps, rescued from the illegal pet and bushmeat trade. Despite their initial trauma, chimps living at Ngamba have a safe and semi-natural environment in which to recover and eventually thrive over their long lives of up to 60 years. This island has 95 acres of natural forest where the chimps roam and forage daily. Their diet is supplemented multiple times per day, much to the delight of visiting tourists who can observe the feeding from a viewing platform. The chimps also have the freedom to stay in the forest at night or return to nighttime enclosures, where they can build nests and receive an evening meal.
Shoebill Filming in Mabamba Swamp.
Located on the northern shores of Lake Victoria, Mabamba Swamp is just 12km west of Entebbe and is one of the biggest swamp on Lake Victoria. This can be accessed from Entebbe using a motorized boat or canoe ride hence touring around the swamp. The Mabamba wetland is Uganda’s most important birding site and it is home to over 300 bird species. Mabamba swamp is the most common filming locations for the shoebill stork in Uganda.
Fishing villages in Entebbe.
Immerse in the daily lives of fishermen at Kigungu, one of the main fishing villages in Entebbe.
